Futures trading fee is the fee you pay for making a futures trade. CoinW futures trading (including copy-trading) maintains consistent fee rates across all coin pairs: a maker fee rate of 0.01%, and a taker fee rate of 0.06%.
This article will introduce what taker/maker fees are, how to calculate them, and how to get a discount on futures trading fees.
About Maker and Taker Fees
The futures trading fee for takers and makers mainly depends on whether the trader is the order placer or the order taker.
Order Placing: When you place a limit order, your order is added to the order book for others to accept, and not traded immediately. This type of trade is called "order-placing," and traders who place this order are known as “market makers.”
Order Taking: When you place a market order, your order is traded immediately through partial or complete transactions before being added to the order book. This type of trade, which does not need to be added to the order book, is called "order-taking,” and traders who place this order are known as “market takers.”
Please note: Limit order ≠ order placing. Order placing trades are only considered as limit orders when these are added to the order book. For example, if the buy price of a limit order ≥ the lowest selling price, it will immediately be executed as an order-taking trade and charged with taker fees.
How to Calculate Futures Trading Fees
Futures Trading Fee = Position Value * Fee Rate
Here, Position Value = Position Size * Price of the Underlying
If you're trading in contracts, then your Position Size = Number of Contracts * Contract Face Value
For example, the user's maker fee rate is 0.01%, and taker fee rate is 0.06%.
When using a limit order to sell 1,000 BTC/USDT futures contracts at a set price of 41,000 USDT,
Fee = 41,000 * 1,000 * 0.001 * 0.01% = 4.1 USDT
When using a market order to buy 1,000 BTC/USDT futures contracts at a buy price of 40,000 USDT,
Fee = 40,000 * 1,000 * 0.001 * 0.06% = 24 USDT
